• What's fun about books like this are the concepts a human with unknown magical powers is discovered by a planet-spanning AI? Pretty cool. That AI then discovers moral breaks in the system of higher education and fixes them for her? Also cool. A side thread about how VR can help train people for future battles? That's nice if a bit derivative. Hints of interplanetary politics that she'll likely play a big part of? That might make me buy a sequel.
  
  The missing piece, which turns mediocre, low-cost, high-concept books into great books, is the execution. The grammar is really terrible, the scenes don't flow well, logic is missing, painfully unintelligent characters thinking the actions of the hero are really smart, giant plot holes, missing motivations, under-developed principals. That's what this book has.
  
  The main protagonist's journey of self discovery was fun to follow at first. As the plot rolled along, and turns mostly to action, she became two dimensional. I lost interest in her because her path of discovery became the path of super powers. She became a pawn of the story, with not enough self-awareness to drive the plot.
  
  So, if you want some interesting concepts in a story that is mostly forgettable and highly skimmable, then read this book. If you really hate poor grammar, misshapen plot structure and lack of characterization, then avoid this book.
• I really enjoyed this book, I've stopped reading the other series from this author because of all the side stories and how they tie into the main story, I understand a novella once in a while, but the Kurtherian Universe became complicated fast. And the one set of side character stories I did enjoy, only had 2 books. (Anne+Jinx). But enough rant. I like this author, I like that he writes strong female characters. They start like as everyday woman/girls, and come into being strong leaders (with a strong fashion sense). This book more than others that I have read has shown me how much the writer has grown as a story teller. This wasn't a quick page turn. Every time I was sure I had reached a cliff hanger or the inevitable kindle unlimited quick story with bad editing , I would look at my progress and see that I was only a third of the way done, or half, or three quarters. Ha ha ha Thank you for writing this amazing set of characters, and I can't wait to see where they go from here.
• Stephanie Morgana, a truly brilliant girl, is from the GovSub, where the poor live. Like today's world, the society in the 2120s is striated, with the advantages all going to the "richies". When a tired engineer hands Stephanie's testing off to the AI that runs the world, interesting things start happening! She begins to learn magic, the AI realizes he has not been allowed to follow his reason for being, and that's just during the test! I am waiting very impatiently for the next book. If you like strong female characters taking charge, you will love this book!
• I love reading Micharl Anderle's books. The story was great, the main character was spunky and smart. Unfortunately the editing on this book was not as good as normal, multiple instances of misaligned words...of instead of if, from where you don't need a from, and sentences that didn't make sense. It pulls me out of the story when I have to go back and try to figure out what was meant. I still recommend the book, the story was great and pulled me in from the start.
• Not up to the author’s usual standard in my opinion. Very slow in spots, some logical disconnects and needs better proofreading. The concept has a lot of merit and I will read on in the series with the expectation that it will improve.
• I really enjoyed this book. It has all the things you expect from a Michael Anderle book, minus some of the more adult things since this is YA fiction. The only thing I'm somewhat confused on is is this a separate universe, or is it part of one of the others Mr. Andrew has written in. Other than that I look forward to reading the next book.

• Having read some of Michael's other works I thought I would give this book a try. What a great decision! The main character actually grows throughout the book. She needs to do hard work to succeed. She also learns life lessons along the way and doesn't repeat past mistakes. This is a nice plus. I really hope that more books in this series are written.
